Nutrition Foundations: Feeding the Healing Brain
Why cellular energy is the first pillar, and gentle first steps for even the most selective eaters.
If we give the body its proper nutrients, the body will start to heal itself. That principle sits at the heart of the Energy pillar.
Start where your child is. Restrictive eating is common and usually sensory in origin — texture, smell, and predictability matter more than taste. Pressure at the table almost always backfires; exposure without demand is the path.
First steps that help most families: anchor meal times so blood sugar stays steady; add one nutrient-dense food your child already tolerates in a new form; hydrate consistently; and keep a simple food-and-behavior log for two weeks before making bigger changes.
Work with a practitioner before major eliminations. Removing foods without a plan can shrink an already narrow diet. A qualified practitioner can test rather than guess, and sequence changes so your child’s energy stores are protected while you work.
